Day Two
Sunday, 21 June 2009 18:00
I got up at 6 am and took my HCG drop as I was making coffee and unloading the dishwasher . I headed to the laundry room to fold a load of clothes. I then had coffee, one Tablespoon of milk and a packet of Stevia. I had an early morning meeting so I jumped directly into the shower, got dressed and headed out the door. I had to run back in and get my chicken breast and fruit.
At 10 am, I was puckish. Sitting in a meeting, I heard my stomach rumbling even after 2 Sonic cups of water and several trips to the bathroom (perhaps I should take my laptop in there and work wireless. I’ve been in there a bunch the last two days and it is hurting productivity!) I decided to go ahead and eat my 6 strawberries. Frankly, even though these were some large strawberries, I was less satisfied with them than with the thinly sliced apple. There was less there to enjoy from a “crunching” perspective. It did, however, stave off the stomach noises until lunch.
The meeting I was in had catered sandwiches in, along with chips and cookies. Uh oh…I ran to my office and ate my chicken breast and the salad greens I had gotten from the office canteen. I listened to some music and relaxed a little. When I returned to the meeting room, everyone was done with their lunches and I didn’t feel like I had suffered.
I ate an apple for a late afternoon snack and finished off two more Sonic cups of water (along with 3 more trips to the bathroom!)
Now, here is where it gets tricky. My mother had invited my family over for dinner this evening. They had some old friends in from Texas and we wanted to see them. She had fixed appetizers and a huge meal of stuffed pasta shells, salad, bread and homemade ice cream. After contemplating the spread, I filled my plate with salad greens (I pushed the tomatoes and peppers out at my plate) and just ate the inside – chicken portion – of one stuffed shell. No bread. No ice cream.
So here’s the rub, you really cannot eat out or any place that is not within your control. You simply can not give up your providence over your food intake – social activities involving food should be avoided or you should eat BEFORE you go. It is amazing to me how we regard meals as such social activities.
I thought I handled the situation (okay, yes, I know I could have simply told my mother I needed another option, but...) we will see how the scale resolves the issue.
